'Twas the Night before Christmas...

On a brisk Christmas Eve the residue of the Florida Grande inmates had a ball. With 1,000 candles diligently set in place around the park entrance, each protected from the wind by a paper bag and safely moored by a pound of sand, they partied in traditional fashion. Between the consumption of a sumptuous pot-luck supper and the subsequent destruction of a table load of decadent desserts, numerous volunteers - well, a few anyway - braved the cold to light every lantern. Bravo! It looked magnificent! Click here to see more pictures.

The Florida Grande Sewer Bowl

This afternoon, we ventured out to witness the this week's round of the Florida Grande Sewer Bowl firsthand. Every Tuesday, a group of svelte athletes assemble at the sewer works service road and engage in a suspenseful struggle against each other and against the Laws of Physics. Frequently, the winner appears to be the Law of Physics. This particular Tuesday saw a low turnout due to numerous competing activities and I apologize for not knowing the name of a single participant! Click here for pictures of the Best of Bowlers and their graceful actions.
